What is the difference between Kony Visualizer & Kony Studio

Question asked by Bayan Siddiek on Sep 12, 2016 18:02 EDT

Greetings ,  I'm a new developer on Kony ,  i want to learn and get a good knowledge about it , i started by downloading Knoy visualizer enterprise and kony visualizer starter , then i tried to follow tutorials in the kony website . http://docs.kony.com/video_tutorials/ are these tutorials only for kony studio ?  i noticed that the third topic (using web service) is all about Kony studio and i wasn't able to apply some steps as configuring kony server on the Visualizer .  Would you please let me know what's the difference between Kony Visualizer & Kony Studio ?   Thanks in advance .

Hi,

Kony Studio ----> Kony Studio is a development environment (IDE) for developing, building, testing, debugging, and deploying mobile applications (apps) for multiple platforms from a single code base. Logic, invoking webservices, FFi, custom widget import and many other components can be used in Kony Studio

Kony Visualizer ----> Kony Visualizer mostly enables you to create highly interactive designs to design your application. This gives you WYSIWYG( What you see is What you get ) tool that provides an instant preview/functional preview of your design, thereby, helping you make necessary changes to the design quickly.

Using studio you need to always build and test in emulator/device to check the design. But using Visualizer you can instantly check your application design then import this application in Studio to apply all the other functionalities like integrating webservices, FFi etc.

From 7.0 onwards, Kony Studio is Kony Visualizer Enterprise.

I am using Kony 6.0.3 and I exported my project as a Visualizer project but while importing in to Kony visualizer 7.2.1 I am getting error.

projectExplorerEventHandlers: Import failed. Studio projects with version < 6.8 are not supported: /Users/Admin/Kony Visualizer/konyworkspace/.backup/2017-01-18T06_17_21.603Z

I too alos tried the below steps but no luck.

The Upgrade the project to the current version option is disabled.

  1. After importing to Kony Studio 6.0 GA, do the following:
    1. Right-click on the project and select Utilities
    2. From the options available, select Upgrade the project to the current version
    3. A confirmation message appears. Click OK.

Hi Pramin,

Thank you for contacting Kony.

While importing, please check on the checkbox below which says 'Copy Designer Actions' and try again.

This should resolve your issue.

HI Rashmi,

After selecting the .zip file, I clicked on import, here I could not see any check box 'Copy Designer Actions' in Kony Visualizer.

Instantly I am getting the error, attached the visualizer screenshot.
