Opening the KAR file

Question asked by Magesh Rathnam on Mar 30, 2017 19:13 EDT

Hi - As per the documentation, to open a KAR file generated from the Studio (6.5) build, we need to run the extract command. I generated the KAR file in windows and ported it to Mac (Since am not able to establish the connection between Windows and Mac). Now from Mac, when I run the command, I get the error that the perl script is not found. extract.pl konyappiphone.KAR Can't open perl script "extract.pl": No such file or directory Can you pls guide me on where can I find this perl script file? I tried to google, but I could not find a solution. It only leads to a post(http://community.kony.com/developer/forum/generating-ipa-file-kar-file-mobile-app) , where a similar user has reported a problem, the solution to which just points to these steps, without mentioning where to find the perl script and the thread is locked too. Pls let me know if you need more details.

Dear Magesh

Please find below link to download gen plugins

download.kony.com/onpremise/Beta/plugins/iOS/65/ios10-6.5.3_GMSeed.zip

After downloaded, extract it, you will be finding VMAppWithKonylib/gen

Using Terminal in MAC, navigate to VMAppWithKonylib/gen

Ex: cd  /Users/Kony/Desktop/Plugins/24112016/VMAppWithKonylib/gen

Now use, perl extract.pl <KAR file path goes here >

Hi Vamseekrishna - Thanks for your reply. I downloaded that file and extracted it. Ran the extract.pl command for my .kar file. But, as mentioned in the other post - http://community.kony.com/developer/forum/generating-ipa-file-kar-file-mobile-app - XCode did not show any new project. (My XCode was already open with some other code). Rather, inside gen folder, I see another folder - konyappunzipped folder, which seems to contain my app data. But how do I open it in XCode and use it as an iOS project. Kindly clarify.

Pls let me know if you need more details.

Note: I tried even with my XCode closed, but it did not open XCode with a new project.

Dear Magesh,

Use below command after extracting with perl extract.pl

open ../VMAppWithKonylib.xcodeproj

So, now, Xcode will get opened automatically with your project

Hi Vamsee - I had figured it out myself, when I tried to play around with the only xcode project file available there. Thanks.
